Please read the following information regarding Alarm Systems within the Village.  Clicking the ALARM PERMIT button on the bottom of this screen will bring up a printable Alarm Permit form.  Simply print out the form and return it with the applicable permit fee to the Village Hall, 419 Richmond Road, Kenilworth, IL. 60043.

 

TO ALL PERSONS HAVING FIRE OR BURGLAR ALARM SYSTEMS IN KENILWORTH:

 

In accordance with Chapter 27A of the Kenilworth Village Code, an installation permit and fee of $50.00 is required for all alarm systems.  The ordinance requires that you provide the Police Department with access to your premises at all times for the purpose of investigating emergency calls so please remember to include the names of keyholders. An annual permit is required on or before January 1st of each year ($25.00 annual renewal.)

Types of Alarms:

CENTRAL STATION ALARMS- Alarms that cause a signal, when activated, at the Police or Fire emergency board in the Police of Fire Departments.

PRIVATE CENTRAL STATION ALARMS- Alarms that cause a signal, when activated, in a private central location, resulting in the central station operator telephoning and advising the Police or Fire Departments of the alarm activation.

LOCAL ALARMS- (OUTSIDE RINGERS)- Alarms that sound audibly outside the premises of the subscriber and are not connected to any central location. (10 minute limit)

Automatic Telephone Dialing Systems (a device that automatically selects a public telephone trunk line at the Police or Fire Departments and then reproduces a pre-recorded message to report an emergency) are prohibited.

As outlined in the Kenilworth Village Code Chapter 27A, Section 27A-6, for each false alarm responded to by the Kenilworth Police Department or Winnetka Fire Department the owner will be assessed a fee as follows: You may avoid false alarm charges by calling the Police Department with the proper code prior to Emergency Services Response.

Both the annual and renewal permit forms below can be filled out on-screen prior to printing.  Submit the completed permit along with the applicable permit fee, payable to the Village of Kenilworth to the Kenilworth Police Department by mail or in person at our service desk.
