EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ALLAN KAMINSKI ANNOUNCES
RETIREMENT
Executive Director Allan Kaminski of the Kenilworth Police Department will be retiring on July
1, 2004, having completed 33 years of service to the residents of Kenilworth.
Director Kaminski started with the Department in 1971. He was promoted to the rank of
Sergeant in 1985, Chief of Police in 1995, and Executive Director in 1999. Director Kaminski is a graduate of
the Northwestem University Center for Public Safety, the Executive Management Program of Northwestem
University, and the F.B.l. National Academy. Director Kaminski has served the Village with honor and dignity .
Both residents and fellow employees will miss him and wish him well.


NEW SUPERINTENDENT OF POLICE APPOINTED
At its regularly scheduled Village Board meeting on May 10, 2004, the President and Board of Trustees ratified
the recommendation of the Police and Fire Committee to appoint Sergeant John V. Petersen Superintendent of
Police, effective June 15, 2004. He was greatly influenced by his father who was a Kenilworth Police Officer from
1961 to 1984. Sergeant Petersen lives with his wife and three children in Libertyville. He has a B.A. in Criminal
Justice Administration from Columbia College. He has been with the Kenilworth Police Department for 20 years
including 10 years as Sergeant.
The ceremony to present the new Superintendent with his credentials took place at the June 14,2004 Village Board meetings.
